The Archeopark* is a great open air interactive park created to make
us relive our past through the reconstruction of prehistoric settlements;
it allows us to cover 15,000 years of history and to learn about the
ancient Camunnians and the Po and Alpine people.
In the Archeopark of Boario T. you can: explore a cave where paintings
of prehistoric men have been reproduced; observe how the Mesolithic
nomadic hunters organized a shelter under the rock; advance into linen
fields followed by a flock of goats, go into a Neolithic farm and
hold the farmer's tools; pause in the huts of the great village with
pile-dwellings stretching onto the lake where the pirogues move forward
by means of paddle strokes; go up the hill in order to conquer the
"castelliere" (a prehistoric fortified village, built in
a high place) and observe, in the artisans' village, weavers and ceramists
who work using ancient techniques; go through the maze reconstructed
on the ground of the engravings found in Luine, Capodiponte and Cimbergo.
The didactic aspect is particularly important in the visit at the
Archeopark; in the workshops of experimental archaeology the visitors,
guided by our cultural promoters, can plunge into the daily prehistoric
activities: light the fire, use bow- and fly-wheel drills, hammer
the copper, make clay vases, grind the corn and cook the bread, shoot
with a bow, cross the lake with rafts and pirogues, spend one or more
nights in the prehistoric huts.
* It is not a real museum, but a group of very accurate "reconstructions".
